Melian the Maia, and Elwë Sindacollo or Elu Thingol of Doriath, together, in love. I desperately wanted to picture them not as Ainu and an old Elf; not as wise king and queen of Doriath; not as troubled Luhtien's parents; but as a couple, fallen in love so truly, madly and deeply, and never tired of each other

Firstly, these two were supposed to lie together beneath the tree. Secondly, I wanted both their faces to be seen. At last I decided to search for some inspiration and use some resource images. Then, there it was - "Don't give up" by Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel, the song and the video. Google wasn't very helpful whilst searching for some screens for reference, but all I needed was a brief reminder of what I know very well already. I used to think of this picture as "Don't give up" ever since I've drawn the first line (the tree it was

After finding an idea and a way to make it real, it was quick and easy. And enjoyable - the hardest part was to choose which ambiance green and blue layers should I use (in the end, I used none
Oh, the last thing. I saw many screens from that video clip mentioned, but never both faces of the singers were seen. I didn't want only Melian's or only Thingol's face to be seen, so I decided to show no face at all. I think the image is still expressive enough.
